The objective of this manual is to provide guidelines for the implementation of an environmental management system covering all aspects necessary to fulfill the obligations of working towards an improvement of the environmental performance, as stipulated in Maersk Contractors’ environmental policy.

This manual addresses environmental aspects in all operational stages of Maersk Contractors’ activities including design, procurement, construction, and operation.
The application of the manual must be considered on the basis of legal and contractual requirements. The guidelines of this manual have been produced such that full application will lead to compliance with ISO 14001:2004 standard.

Concerning the implementation of the environmental management system, it is presumed that the person (ref. sec.3.05) appointed as the organizational unit’s focal point possesses suitable qualifications within environmental matters corresponding to the requirements in the relevant procedures.

Section 5-9 contains all procedures necessary to comply with the requirements in ISO 14001. The individual procedures are applicable to the extent relevant for the specific unit for which the environmental management system is being implemented.

This manual has been reviewed by Bureau Veritas Quality International (BVQI) and the content has been found compliant with the requirements in ISO 14001:2004. ISO 14001:2004 will hereafter be referred to as ISO 14001.
This manual will be distributed to all Area Managers.
