GU-752 – HSE Precautions for Cleanout of NORM Wells using Coil Tubing Units – PDO

To provide a safe control system for handling equipment and fluids contaminated with scale exhibiting a raised level of natural radioactivity (NORM) when conducting cleanout of wells with a coil tubing unit (CTU) by contractors.

This procedure shall apply to all well re-entry operations carried out by contractors when using CTU. All wells, which have been previously active (not new wells), shall be considered NORM contaminated unless demonstrated otherwise by measurements. CTU activities are classified as non-routine NORM jobs.
