All lifting equipment has to be identified with function location and to be registered. This is a legal requirement. In case of an incident, the authorities need to be able to carry out an investigation. Maintenance- and inspection records shall be traceable and available for review. By registering and maintaining records in SAP company fulfills its obligations.

The purpose of this specification is to provide a structured approach for lifting equipment SAP registration.

The scope of this specification is to explain the methods and steps that shall be followed during lifting equipment registration in SAP and to differentiate between the different types of lifting equipment.
