When the Well Engineering Directorate was re-structured in 2014 it also ended the out-sourcing to contractors of the services provided by the Completion and Well Intervention Workshops, notably the Wellhead Maintenance, the Wireline, the Completions, and the Marmul Pump workshops.
The end of the out-sourcing marked the beginning of the “In-Sourcing” of these services and this change in approach was applied with the objective to reduce material waste, specifically for Wellheads and Christmas Trees, to rebuild practical skills within the PDO organization, and to improve the opportunity of benchmarking workshop related services.
Well Integrity maintenance is critical to Technical Assurance and the safe and environmentally friendly production of hydrocarbons.
The workshops are responsible for supporting Well integrity maintenance:
- by coordinating well integrity maintenance activities in line with the rig and hoist sequences.
- by refurbishing and testing retrieved completion equipment and
- by maintaining adequate stock levels of consumables and spare parts (e.g completion sub-assemblies, Christmas Trees, wellheads, TRSSSVs, subsurface pumps, etc.) to ensure that preventive and reactive maintenance activities can be carried out at any time.
This Procedure sets out the standards by which workshop operations are to be conducted for the preparation and maintenance of C&WI equipment.
It forms the framework from which detailed work practice procedures can be developed and maintained by both PDO and contractor companies.
This C&WI Procedure document will be distributed to all PDO Section Heads who have interfaces with the C&WI Operations, all C&WI Supervisors, and Contractor Supervisors.
