It is not possible to foresee every eventuality that may arise during the course of an emergency situation in MAF. It follows, therefore, that the exact course of action to be taken to overcome any particular problem must be decided upon by the Emergency Base Controller in charge of dealing with the situation. This he must do in consultation with his Emergency Response Team, taking all relevant factors into account, as the actual situation develops.

The priorities in any emergency are set in the following order:

1. Safeguard Life.
2. Protect the Environment.
3. Protect Company and Third-Party Assets.
4. Maintain Company Image and Reputation.
5. Resume Normal Operations As Soon As Possible.
