Khalifa University of Science and Technology, a top-ranked institution in the UAE, has announced a significant advancement in higher education for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) professionals: starting Fall 2025, its Master’s program in HSE Engineering will be fully delivered online.
This move marks a pivotal shift toward accessibility and innovation in postgraduate safety education. The transition to an online format aligns with global trends in digital learning while retaining the university’s rigorous academic standards.
Khalifa University’s decision to offer the program fully online reflects the growing demand from working professionals across various industries—oil & gas, construction, manufacturing, and energy—who seek to advance their HSE qualifications without leaving their jobs or relocating.
Students from around the world will now have the opportunity to join a top-tier program without being limited by geography. The online format opens doors to learners in remote or underserved regions who may not have had access to such specialized education.
The MSc in HSE Engineering is designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge in:
Occupational health and industrial hygiene
Safety engineering and process risk management
Environmental protection and sustainability
Compliance with international standards such as ISO 45001 and ISO 14001
With the move online, students can expect:
Live virtual lectures and recorded sessions for flexibility
Interactive simulations and case-based learning
Access to world-class faculty and collaborative research opportunities
Virtual lab components and remote access to software tools
Dr. Arif Sultan Al Hammadi, Executive Vice President of Khalifa University, emphasized that this initiative is a reflection of the university’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality, industry-relevant education. “We are committed to preparing the next generation of HSE leaders who can operate in diverse global environments,” he stated.
The online Master’s program is also expected to serve as a platform for further interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industries facing evolving safety and environmental challenges.
Applications for the fully online MSc in HSE Engineering are now open for the Fall 2025 intake. Interested candidates must hold a relevant undergraduate degree and meet the university’s admission requirements, including English language proficiency.
With this transformation, Khalifa University cements its role as a leader in safety education in the Middle East and globally—delivering future-ready learning that transcends borders.
