What are the main differences between the HSE and NHS?
The first is The Health and Safety Executive and is a UK government agency responsible for the encouragement, regulation, and enforcement of workplace health, safety, and welfare, and for research into occupational risks in Great Britain. It is a non-departmental body funded by the Department of Work and Pensions. It has a budget of around £130m
The second is the National Health Service which is a national health (and social care) system; the founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal, and free at the point of delivery. It is funded through general taxation and a share of the National Insurance contributions. It is part of the Department of Health and has a budget of around £136bn.
As you can see they are separate in form, function, size, and budget.
