Sequence of events
A fire occurred at the No. 1 crude unit of Sinochem’s Quanzhou refinery.
The blaze resulted in the shutdown of the unit.
Seven people were injured in the incident, according to local state media.
The industrial park management where the refinery is located issued the initial public statement.
Facility Details:
The Quanzhou refinery has a total processing capacity of 300,000 barrels per day.
The affected No. 1 crude unit accounts for 240,000 barrels per day.
The plant was already preparing for a full maintenance shutdown from late November or early December through January.
The complex produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, polypropylene, and has an ethylene production capacity of 1 million metric tons per year.
Impacts:
Injury to seven personnel.
Disruption of crude unit operation.
