Lifting Equipment Management Objective

The objective of the procedure is to describe the Lifting Equipment management process and define roles and responsibilities of the personnel in managing the process and asset.

Lifting Equipment Management Process

QAQC Engineer Is responsible for ensuring that the requirements of this procedure are implemented on all operating Unit within his area of responsibility;
Rig Manager Is responsible for ensuring that the requirements of this procedure are implemented on his Hoist/Rig;
Store Keeper Is responsible for ordering any LE along with Certification;
Admin Is responsible for

  • Maintaining Lifting Equipment Register;
  • Maintaining LE Certification Binder;
  • Adding new LE to LER Register prior to issuing it to service;
  • Mark rejected LE in the LE Register as ‘Rejected’;
Lifting Equipment Controller

 

  • Prepare Lift Plans for any lifting operation above 5tn and for any Personnel Lifting operations by crane;
  • Facilitate Lifting Equipment 6-monthly Survey by 3rd party;
  • Ensure that colour coding is correctly applied to inspected items;
  • Monitor the condition of lifting equipment;
  • Ensure proper storage and protection of lifting equipment at site;
  • Reapply fainted current colour coding for Lifting Equipment, which are verified via Lifting Equipment Register to be inspected during last Survey;
  •  Ensure that lifting equipment identification is maintained;
  • Ensure Lifting Equipment which cannot be positively verified to be inspected during last Survey are sent to Workshop for storing in the Quarantine Box until next Survey;
  • Assist Unit Managers to carry out periodic inspections of Forklift and Cranes as required;
  • Ensure Web Slings are visually inspected prior to use;
  • Reject and destroy any faulty Lifting Equipment;
