The HSE Specialist provides dedicated health, safety, environment, and quality (QHSE) support to drilling operations, ensuring full compliance with Sanad policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations. The role works closely with Rig Management, Area QHSE, and the Operator to embed a strong safety culture and effective management systems on the rig and in associated camps.
Take personal responsibility for own safety and demonstrate full compliance with Sanad policies and procedures at all times.
Coordinate with the Rig Manager and Area QHSE on QHSE concerns and initiatives affecting the rig and area operations.
Consult, advise, and guide Drilling Operations on all QHSE matters, providing practical and technical support.
Liaise with the Operator on QHSE topics, reporting, and joint initiatives as required.
Maintain internal and external QHSE reporting in line with established Nabors/Sanad and Operator systems.
Engage outside experts on QHSE matters when needed, ensuring best practice is applied to operations.
Participate in and help coordinate rig HSE meetings, ensuring effective communication and follow‑up of actions.
Take part in Regulatory, Operator and Internal QHSE audits, and support the close-out of any findings.
Participate in local HSE groups that include operators, government bodies, and other drilling contractors.
Ensure rig adherence to company guidelines and verify ongoing compliance with Sanad requirements.
Maintain and update rig evacuation plans, procedures, and related emergency measures.
Provide timely information to Management on accidents and incidents in line with NDIL and Operator procedures.
Monitor compliance against the monthly HSE schedule and drive completion of planned activities.
Coordinate with the Rig Manager on implementation of the Rig Management System on site and support instructions to all personnel on its use.
Oversee implementation of the SMART program on the rig site.
Monitor, chair, and/or participate in regularly scheduled HSE meetings at rigs and camps.
Oversee the implementation of operational systems and procedures including: Permit to Work, Lock‑Out/Tag‑Out, Hazardous Chemical/MSDS, PPE, HLO, H2S Awareness, Benchmarking, NOWA, and other required training activities.
Monitor readiness and response to emergencies through regular, documented drills.
Execute, review, and monitor required QHSE inspections for rigs and camps, reporting findings to the Rig Manager.
Maintain the Corrective Action Register for non‑compliance issues arising from meetings and inspections.
Maintain Lifting & Slings Registers and inspection programs for rigs in the area.
Monitor compliance with the Travel/Journey Management System where applicable.
